William Lambert Jernigan

William Lambert Jernigan, 78, Pittsboro NC, died unexpectedly May 2, 2025. Bill was born in McIntosh, Florida to Louis Jernigan and Elizabeth Walkup. His father died in action before he was born, but Bill was raised alongside his twin sisters Elizabeth and Alyce by his loving mother and her second husband, as well as his beloved grandparents. 

Bill earned his MBA and PhD in English at the University of Florida, then continued his education by reading everything he could about history, politics, science, philosophy, metaphysics, and spirituality on his lifelong quest to understand the Universe in which he lived.

He was a wise man who channeled much of what he learned into his journey to Recovery, helping many close friends on the path, including his second wife Cheryl and daughter Rachel. Dedicated to working The Program, he demonstrated continuous self-improvement. He was generous with his time when he helped friends and family, and even maintained local nature trails, which he often hiked on his personal journey to connect with his Higher Power. He will be missed by all who knew him.

 He is survived by his daughter Rachel Jernigan, son Will Everett, grandson Cauis Everett, sister Elizabeth Randall, and many loving nieces and nephews
