Wayne Hall Berry, a devoted family man and respected retiree of NorTel, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at Duke Regional Hospital. Born on March 28, 1943, in Orange County, North Carolina, Wayne lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew him.
Throughout his career at NorTel, Wayne exemplified commitment and professionalism, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Following his retirement, he remained deeply connected to his roots in North Carolina, cherishing the community and family who surrounded him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved parents and siblings: Billie Edward Berry, Ann Berry, Joy Berry, Vyrtee B. Hight, and Foy B. Bridgers. Their memories were a guiding light throughout his life. He is lovingly remembered by his nephew, Chuck Bridgers, and wife Ellen of Concord, North Carolina, as well as his niece, Cheryl Hand, and her husband George of Acworth, Georgia, who carry forward his enduring legacy with great affection.
A Graveside Service to honor Wayne’s life will be held on May 28, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church located at 7215 Walnut Grove Church Road in Hurdle Mills, NC 27541. This service offers an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to pay their respects and celebrate the meaningful life Wayne led.
In this time of sorrow, the family finds solace in the many wonderful memories shared and the enduring bonds Wayne created. His memory remains a blessing to all who had the privilege to know him. The warmth of his spirit and the depth of his character will forever be etched in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
