Violet Faye Gibson Brown

Violet Faye Gibson Brown, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Our Promise Care Home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was 77 years old.

Born on May 5, 1948, to Gerald and Gloris Gibson. She dedicated her professional life to teaching at Pine Hall School in Stokes County, NC, where she was a cherished educator. She loved the children and the community she served and many loved her in return.

Violet was known for her kind and thoughtful nature, as well as her sense of humor. She loved the color purple, delighted in dancing, and rarely passed up an opportunity to socialize, go to the movies, or celebrate — especially her birthday, which she joyfully honored throughout the entire month of May.

She is survived by her daughters, Lee Ann Brown (Matthew) and Laura Brown; her adored granddaughter, Adeline Meek; her sister Sue Elder; her brother Ronnie Gibson; her sisters-in-law Terry Gibson and Janet Gibson; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

To honor Violet’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held in Stokes County in early Fall — a gathering filled with love, laughter, and the spirit of joy she wanted to share.
