With sadness and love we announce the passing of Vincent Ruta, age 90, of Chapel Hill, NC, formerly of Waldwick, NJ and Naples, FL on July 9, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was known and loved by many as husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.

Born to parents Nunzio and Emma Ruta on November 3, 1935 in Hackensack, NJ, Vincent was employed by United Water until his retirement in 1998. He served twice in the U.S. Army.

Vincent resided in Waldwick, NJ for 36 years, during which time he was an active member of the Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corp and the Waldwick United Methodist Church and named a Waldwick Man of the Year. His passions included family, sports, namely the NY Giants and Yankees, and golfing.

Vincent is survived by his daughters Laurie Ann DiCorcia and her husband Donald, Linda Ruta and her husband Joseph Parrillo, his son James Ruta and his wife Kelly, and by his four grandsons Gregg Michael Marella, Connor Ruta, Jason Marella and Tyler Ruta. He is also survived by his sister Salvatrice Herbert and many loving extended family members. Vincent was predeceased by his wife Emilie (1996) and his sister, Josephine Noto.

He will be remembered by all for his kindness, easy smile, wit and as Santa at Christmas. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.

A private cremation service is planned with a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to SECU Jim & Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC, 100 Roundtree Way, Pittsboro, NC, 27312 can be made in his memory.
