Tommy Temple

Hillsborough - Tommy Suggs Temple, 77, died November 16, 2016. He was born in Durham County and was a Durham High School graduate where he was in the ROTC. After graduation he entered the U.S. Navy and served on the Franklin D. Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Following his Navy service he married Patricia Riley. He graduated from Alamance Tech. with an associate degree in heating and air conditioning. He worked for the Durham Morning Herald and Servitex Linen Service. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Orange Rural Fire Department for many years. He loved golf, Duke sports, and the beach. Surviving are two sons: David Temple (Robin) and Daniel Temple (Karen), two grandsons: Matthew Temple (Tiffany) and Mason Temple, and two granddaughters: Jennifer Temple (Jeffrey) and Mollie Lea Lolling. He was predeceased by his wife and parents, Lillian and Wilbur Ira Temple. The graveside service will be held 12:30 PM Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Park, 2107 Liberty St., Durham.
