Shirley Horn

Shirley Norris Horn passed away at her home in Chapel Hill Thursday, February 2, 2012. Memorial services will be held Monday February 6, 2012 at 11:00AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She was born July 7, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, John F. Horn, Sr.; her brother Robert Norris of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter Karen H. Neal of Wake Forest, North Carolina; her son John F. Horn, Jr. of Mebane, North Carolina; her daughter Gretchen Petersen of Raleigh, North Carolina; and her five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, William F. Norris of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shirley was a long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church choir and the Chapel Hill - Carrboro Community Chorus. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the music program of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or UNC Hospice at PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312. Her family thanks UNC Hospice and Aegis Care.
