Ronald Gallant

A. Ronald “Ron” Gallant passed away on October 18, 2025 with his wife, Marcia, by his side. They enjoyed over sixty-one years together, living in Poway CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Ames, IA, Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL, Chapel Hill, NC, Manhattan, NY, and State College, PA. Ron was truly passionate about his academic career at North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University, and Pennsylvania State University. Ron enjoyed photography, woodworking, Agatha Christie novels, coffee, cigars, and/or cocktails on the porch, motorcycles, trucks, sleeping on a sailboat, his own opinions, and family beach trips. Ron will be remembered by those who loved him for his kindness, sense of humor, and passion for academic research in statistics/econometrics.

Survivors include Marcia (wife), Megan (daughter), Drew (son), Roxanne Jackson (sister), Kirsten Marquard (niece), Kaitlin Tovar (niece), Joyce Hayes (sister-in-law) as well as too many friends, former students, and colleagues to name that he regarded more as chosen family members and all of whom have been subjected to said opinions and sense of humor over the years.

No funeral or memorial will be held as per his request and he will be privately interred at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill, NC. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice
