Robert Ronald Vick

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving father, Robert Ronald Vick. Many knew him as “Ron” or in his earlier years as “Ronnie.” He was born in Chapel Hill, NC on December 1938. Saturday, June 14th, 2025, he passed away surrounded by his entire family at the age of 86 years old. He was always referred to as a good man, a man of integrity, and could be the life of the party when you got to know him. He will be truly missed by all, but knowing he is up in Heaven joined with his wife gives us comfort.

He is survived by two daughters Ron-Marie Fuller and Rory-Ann Vick Wagoner (Gary). Ron had 4 grandchildren. He was known as Papa to Joanna “Brittney” Leathers, Morgan Brooke Emory (Daniel), Amber Nicole Pippin (Tim), and Ean Warren Wagoner. He was also a proud great grandfather known as Pops to Riggsbee Vick Emory and Foister Wayne Emory. Also, cousins David Harrison (Gail) and Carolyn Smoak (Buddy). Niece Alicia Huntsman Castaneda and stepson Gregory Davis (Sharon).

Predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years Joyce Royal Vick. Mother Lucille Foister Vick, sister Shirley Ann Vick, uncle Robert Welch Foister Jr, aunt Dorothy Carolyn “Dot” Foister, grandfather Robert Wesley Foister, and grandmother Nettie Ray Foister.

Ron grew up spending a lot of time with his grandfather R.W. Foister, fishing and helping in Foister’s camera shop. He was a well renowned running back football player at Chapel Hill High. He attended Elon University until he enlisted into the Airforce where he became an Airplane Mechanic. After serving 4 years in the military, he worked as an airplane mechanic for McDonnald Douglas, which later became Boeing in St. Louis, Missouri. He then relocated to Houston, Texas for a few years before moving back to his hometown. He landed a job at Dealer Supply Company where he stayed until retirement as a Claims Manager.

Visitation will be held Saturday June 21st at 1pm then at 3 pm Celebration of Life Memorial at Walker’s Funeral Home of Mebane 304 West Center St. Mebane, NC 27302. A reception will follow with family and friends at 4519 Pender Drive Efland, NC 27243.

In Lieu flowers the family ask to please make donations to Duke Cancer Research on behalf of Robert R. Vick, after enduring a short battle of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer that metastasized.
