Phyllis Hearn Plummer

July 11, 1952 — June 24, 2025

Chapel Hill

Phyllis H. Plummer passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025 at her home in White Cross surrounded by those she loved most. She was born on July 11, 1952 to Rebecca “Polly” Hearn and Jesse Hearn in Chatham County, NC. Phyllis married her husband Paul Plummer Jr. on July 10, 1982. Together they went through many of life’s twists and turns through their 42 years of marriage.

Phyllis was loved by many and had a love for the finer things in life. She enjoyed good food, good music, a nice cold Coca-Cola, and NASCAR. Her biggest joy in life was her granddaughter, Taelor Speas. Anyone who knew Phyllis knew, or knew of Taelor. They enjoyed many shopping trips, hour long phone calls, and plenty of mac n’ cheese. Phyllis was the typical southern grandmother- sweet with a side of sass. Her most recent joy was witnessing her pride and joy get married in April 2025.

Phyllis is survived by husband Paul Plummer Jr. of Chapel Hill; daughter Lesa Kendrick and son-in-law “Perfect” Bill Kendrick; granddaughter Taelor Speas and husband Jake Speas; brother Russel Hearn; many wonderful nieces, nephews, in-laws and an abundance of loving friends.

Phyllis is proceeded in death by her son Bryan Chrisco; Mother Rebecca “Polly” Hearn and Stepfather “Woody”; Father Jesse Hearn; and Brother Timothy Hearn.

Phyllis was looking forward to reuniting with her son in the Promise Land. The family is happy that she has finally gotten her final wish. She will be missed dearly, but as Phyllis would say- see you later.

The funeral service celebrating Phyllis's life will take place on June 30, 2025, at Antioch Baptist Church located at 1707 White Cross Road, Chapel Hill, NC, starting at 1:00 PM. Immediately following will be at her home at 9808 Dodson Crossroad, Chapel Hill, NC for food and fellowship.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Duke Hospice Services for seeing Phyllis was comfortable and taken care of in her final days. Her primary nurse Patrick was extremely kind and compassionate, and the family can not thank him enough.
