Elaine Eason

September 20, 1948 — March 7, 2025

Phyllis "Elaine" Eason, 76, passed away on March 7, 2025 while in the care of the SECU-Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC in Pittsboro, NC after a long battle with dementia.

Elaine was born at Rex Hospital on September 20, 1948 in Raleigh, NC.
She is predeceased by her parents, Clifton Thomas Eason
(US Navy-WWII) and Clarene Davis Partin Eason.
She was also predeceased by her daughter Brigitte Marie Ringrose Mayo (George), and her grandson Jesse Thomas Gibbs.

Elaine is survived by her brother Harold Thomas Eason
(USMC-Vietnam Era) (Pat), her son Paul Samuel Gibbs (Jackie), her daughter Heather Stephanie Marshall (Jeremy), and her son Matthew Thomas Ringrose.
Elaine is survived by nine grandchildren which she was so proud of. Surviving grandchildren are: John Gibbs, Josiah Gibbs, Joseph Gibbs, George Mayo III, Ashley Mayo, Joshua Marshall, Jacob Marshall, Genevieve Ringrose, and Siobahn Ringrose.

Elaine grew up in Raleigh, NC and was an active member of Temple Baptist Church. She graduated from William G. Enloe High School (Class of 1966). She made many friends through church and school and was a cherished member of the community. After high school, she studied at Hardbarger Business College in Raleigh, NC. She went on to have a long successful career as an administrative assistant with the NC Department of Revenue, Dun & Bradstreet, multiple insurance companies, and then retired with NCDMV License & Theft after 17 years of service.

Elaine spoke often of the good old days of going to visit family down at her mom's homeplace in Willow Springs, NC and her dad's homeplace in Elm City, NC. She loved spending time with her grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The NC mountains and beaches were her favorite get aways.

Poetry was one of mom's favorite hobbies. She wrote about 40 poems over the years to help her reflect and get through difficult times in life.

She was a cancer survivor and overcame many struggles in life that would have broken most people. Even though she battled many years with dementia, she was a fighter and fought until the very end.

She is home now with her momma and daddy and with many loved ones who have gone on before her. She will truly be missed.

A special Thank You to UNC Healthcare in Hillsborough and UNC Hospice in Pittsboro for the care they gave mom in her last days
