Particia Kay Roberson
September 17, 1947 – February 26, 2026
A life well lived, a heart well loved.
Patricia Kay Roberson, 78, was born in Durham, NC, on September 17, 1947, to the late Roy Franklin Hardee, Sr and the late Lillian Geraldine Kernodle Hardee of Hillsborough, NC. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Franklin Hardee, Jr and survived by her youngest brother Ray Dexter Hardee.
Kay lived a life centered on family, faith and love for those around her.
Kay was the devoted wife of Willis Ray Roberson of Chapel Hill, NC. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1967, and together built a life grounded in love, commitment and unwavering support for one another.
Kay was a loving mother to her two sons Mike and Paul. She loved watching them grow and prosper in life. She made sure she didn’t miss a ball game, track meet, youth group meeting, parades with the band or any event her boys were involved in. She traveled countless hours cheering them on.
As the family grew, Kay gained two daughters-in-law, Annette (Mike), and Heather (Paul).
Kay found great joy in her family and treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, Cory Roberson (Amanda), Caroline Jacobs (James), Tyler Staples (Cameron), Alex Staples (Kaitlyn), Giana Roberson, and Julia Roberson as well as her great grandchildren, Liam Jacobs, Lily Staples, Lucas Staples, Nora Staples, Ava Staples, and AJ Staples.
Kay had a special love for the beach, where the sound of the waves and the peaceful shoreline brought her comfort and happiness. She also deeply loved her pets and treated them with great tenderness, considering them cherished members of the family.
Kay’s love for helping others was abundant through church and the many mission trips she participated in around the world including Ukraine, Haiti and Mexico. She enjoyed extending her love and compassion to the many lives she touched, especially to the children. She brought smiles to people all over the world.
Kay’s life was a reflection of kindness, strength, and quiet grace. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply.
She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
