Patricia Hayes Jones

Patricia Hayes Jones was born on April 14, 1932, in Efland, North Carolina. She was raised by her mother, Elevene Sykes, her grandfather Hayes and her beloved Aunt Mary Leia, who instilled in her the values of kindness, service, and faith that guided her life.Patricia graduated from Hillsborough High School, where she played basketball, and went on to become a Registered Nurse after studying in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her nursing career took her to Rockefeller University Hospital in New York City and later Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. She was known for her gentle spirit, calming presence, and dedication to caring for others.She married Robert Tyree Jones, and together they raised two children, Lisa and Bradford. The family lived in New Orleans and later Miami, where Patricia continued her nursing career at Doctors Hospital and as a private surgical nurse.In retirement, she moved to New Jersey, to be close to her cherished grandchildren, Hayes and Addison Hoffman, who brought immense joy to her life.Patricia is survived by her children, Lisa Carol Jones of Long Beach, California, and Bradford Hayes Jones of Maplewood, New Jersey; her grandchildren Hayes and Addison Hoffman; her brother Mason Sykes of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and his children Jamie and Scotti; her nieces Patti and Donna; Greg and the Hoffman family and extended family and dear friends. She was a woman of grace, faith, and quiet strength. Her kindness touched every life she encountered. She will be forever loved and deeply missed.

Funeral services

Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church, Efland, North Carolina. Burial will follow the service at the family cemetery across the street at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.
