Nathan E. Marzen

Nathan E. Marzen, 49, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away at home on April 4, 2026 of natural causes.He was the husband of Madoka F. Marzen.

Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of Edward G. Marzen and Jane Ann Mogilski. He was a deeply loving, devoted husband, father, and son. Nathan also had a strong commitment and sincere devotion to his community, workplace, and colleagues.

He was Head of Exhibition Design and Installation at the Ackland Art Museum at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. Nathan was previously employed at the Allentown Art Museum, Allentown, PA, and the Museum at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. He was co-owner of Studio Mule, fine art transport and installation.

Additionally, he was Past President of his community's Home Owners' Association, and continued to be active in the care and upkeep of the community. He assisted everyone in the neighborhood, having genuine concern and caring for each and every one of the residents.

Nathan attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Barnstone Studios in Coply,PA, and Elizabeth City State University, NC.

His hobbies included: painting, gardening, music, his pet cats, being a Girl-Dad, Legos, and Zelda.

A quote by his colleague and best friend, Joel VanderKamp: "Nathan was thoughtful, nurturing, creative and funny. He had a boundless vision for what was possible. In all that he did, he was driven and tireless. He was hugely loved and will be greatly missed."

He is survived by his Mother: Jane Ann Mogilski and her partner Philip F. Weber Jr; Father: Edward G. Marzen and wife Cathy; Wife: Madoka F. Marzen; daughters: Camellia F. Marzen and Sazanka F. Marzen; Step-son Danial Smith, Nephews Braden Marzen and Logan Marzen; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Matthew E. Marzen.

There will be a private memorial service.
