Marcus Edwin Strowd
It is with great sadness that we announced the passing of Marcus Edwin Strowd, age 54, on October 12, 2025, at his sister's residence. Marcus was born in Greensboro, NC, but grew up in Chapel Hill, NC, within Northern Chatham County, attending schools in Pittsboro, NC. Up to his death and for most of the past 30 years, Marcus resided in Greensboro, NC. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to all who knew and loved him.
Throughout his life, Marcus Edwin Strowd was recognized for his dedication, professionalism, and integrity in his chosen field of work. His work history included Lowe's Foods, Maynor Paint Company, The Shoe Dept. (in management), mortgage sales and refinancing, as well as sales and contracts for casino party fundraising events. Marc was recently honored with 15 years of sales and service with Casino Party Aces and Southeast Casino Parties. His work not only evidenced his commitment to client satisfaction but also reflected his vibrant personality and strong work ethic. Post high school, he studied and completed a program in Auto Body Painting and Refinishing. Later, he returned to further his education and holds an Associate’s Degree in Computer Networking, graduating with Phi Theta Kappa Honors.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Marcus will be remembered for his devotion to his son, his sense of humor, his relatability toward others, and his commitment to bringing family and friends together. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, especially Carolina basketball and football, as well as cooking, eating, and growing food. He also enjoyed discovering new restaurants and revisiting his favorites, as well as traveling with friends and family. He loved animals, such as English bulldogs, Basset hounds, and Russian Blue cats, as well as those that were forgotten and abandoned. Marc loved to watch movies, read, and listen to music. He enjoyed hosting small gatherings, orchestrating surprises, and special events for those he loved most. He found wisdom in the teachings of the Bible, as well as in the works of Charles Stanley, Charlie Kirk, and even the stories of Winnie-the-Pooh.
Family played a central role in Marc’s life. He is survived by his treasured son, Landon Taylor Strowd; His Father, Charles Kennon Strowd Jr.; and his brother, Charles Kennon Strowd III. (spouse Barbara), and Michelle Strowd White (spouse Greg), Aunt Margaret Fearrington Smith, nephews Charles Kennon Strowd IV, Jaxon Gregory White, James Grayson White, and many other dear relatives and cousins of all ages. Marc was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Betty Fearrington Strowd; grandparents Margaret Taylor Fearrington, Edwin Mebane Fearrington, and Charles Kennon Strowd Sr., and Clementine Raiford Strowd; and a close childhood friend he considered his brother, Jason Keith Maynor.
The family invites all who knew Marc to join them on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11:00 am for a Joy & Remembrance service to honor his life. The service location is in the Sanctuary of Chatham County’s Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 2791 Jones Ferry Rd. in Pittsboro, NC, 27312. The family will receive guests/friends in the fellowship hall for light refreshments immediately following the service (12:30 pm). Flowers are appreciated. As an alternative to flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Lupus Foundation of America and the animal shelters and services of Guilford, Chatham, and Orange Counties, reflecting his commitment to advancing treatments and a cure for Lupus and enhancing local animal care and adoption services. Marcus Edwin Strowd’s legacy of fatherhood, positivity, determination, love, togetherness, courage, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing his battle is won.
