Lorentz James Frachtling Jr.

Mr. Lorentz James Frachtling, Jr., 91, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home in Burlington, NC.

Lorentz was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 20, 1934, the son of the late Lorentz J. Frachtling, Sr., and Lea Folse Frachtling. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was of the Catholic faith. He retired from Waldemar S. Nelson and Company, an engineering services company.

Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Lorentz and his family relocated to the Burlington area. He enjoyed being active in the Oak Creek Retirement Community.

A private memorial service will be held on Monday, November 17, at Walker’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane. Military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Frachtling was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred LaPierre Frachtling, and a brother, Bernard Frachtling.

Surviving are his son Richard Frachtling (Sandra Simmons); daughter Christine Simmons and her husband, Ronald, all of Burlington; sister Elsie Grab and brother Tommy Frachtling both of New Orleans; 2 granddaughters, Nina Michelle Ward (Joshua Bibbs) and Emily Jean Frachtling; and a great granddaughter Delilah Ava Bibbs.
