Linda Faye Coghill

Linda Faye Coghill (McFarland), born on October 12th, 1947 in Durham North Carolina, was sent to her eternal home on September 20th, 2025 after a long battle with Kidney Failure and several other health issues. She spent her life making a loving home that anyone was welcome at and worked for Orange County School System for 20+ years.

She was predeceased by her parents Virgina “Doris” Blanton and James McFarland and siblings Becky McFarland and Doyle McFarland. She is joining her husband of 46 years, Terrance Coghill, and her son Tony Darnell in heaven.

Linda was survived by 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Karen Painter and her husband Mark Painter and their daughter Jessica Rutherford, Theresa Coghill and her daughters Brandi McPherson (daughter Kinsley) and Natasha Watson (sons Braxton and Braylen) and Tony’s children Brittany Darnell (children Cayden and Brenleigh) and Travis Darnell.

She was also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She was a loved matriarch of the family who will be greatly missed. Friends of the family will miss the feeling of home that she created wherever she went.

Viewing and services will be held on Friday, September 26th at Walkers Funeral Home of Hillsborough. There will be a viewing from 12pm-1pm with a short service starting at 1pm.
