Linda Sue Baxter

Linda Sue Sheppard Baxter passed away on October 19, 2022 at the age of 81 after years of declining health. Linda was born to Kalin and Catherine Sheppard in High Point. She attended Allen Jay High School where she was a standout basketball player, 4-H member, and scholar. Raised a Quaker, Linda went to Guildford College where she blossomed and was the 1963 Class Valedictorian. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Ron and JoAnne Sheppard (TX), her three children Andy, Jonathan, and Susanna, and four grandchildren.

Linda was happiest teaching people to read. She spent most of her career in education, except for a few years as a technical writer. She was probably most fulfilled during her stint at the ABLE Center teaching adults to read. Linda loved butterflies, Southern authors, Duke basketball, clogging, and playing the piano.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to Guilford College, 5800 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410.
