Joan Helen Lawler

Joan Helen Lawler, 96, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Galloway Ridge on October 2, 2026. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York, on January 1, 1930.

Joan lived in Huntington Station, New York, for more than 50 years, where she raised her family and enjoyed a long career with Allstate Insurance Company. In retirement, she moved to Fearrington Village to be closer to her family.

Joan was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Lawler, and her son, Stephen Wakshinsky. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Jean (Tom) and Susan (Dean), along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Over the years, Joan cared for several family pets, and one of her favorites was Bootsie, a beloved feline companion. She enjoyed traveling, dining at great restaurants, and, above all, spending time with friends and family.

The family will hold a private memorial in Joan's honor at a later date.
