James "Jim" Lawrence Kincaide (79) of Chapel Hill peacefully departed this life on August 22 after a long battle with cancer. James was born on January 25, 1946 to the late John Pico Kincaide and Yvette Jarreau Kincaide of New Orleans, LA and grew up in nearby Covington, LA. He attended Covington High School and later went to Southeastern Louisiana College where he earned a Master’s degree in Microbiology. He was employed with BD for 30 years.

Jim was a sweet, kind and generous soul that will be missed by many whose life he touched. He was a very devoted member of St. John’s Metropolitan Community Church, in Raleigh NC. He served on the Board of Directors, supported the Children’s Ministry, chaired the over 55 Lunch Group and did volunteer services for the church-run homeless shelter and food pantry. Jim’s faith in Christ, pervaded every aspect of his life. You could frequently find him reading from the Our Daily Bread or other devotional books in the mornings while having a cup of coffee and before doing the daily crossword puzzle. He was always helping someone who was in need and never met a stranger. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Karol Kincaide Brady Starring Parrott.
