Pittsboro, NC

James Add Clark, affectionately known as "Jimmy," was born on March 25, 1944, and passed away on July 25, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Jimmy dedicated an impressive 42 years of his life as an employee at Chapel Hill Tire Company, becoming a valued member of the community. He was a proud alumnus of Chapel Hill High School, where the foundations of his lifelong work ethic were established. Known for his love of golf, he also greatly enjoyed spending quality time with his family and taking on a supervisory role both at work and in his personal life, always providing guidance and support to those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Dawanna Shambley Clark, of Pittsboro, who was a source of strength and companionship throughout their journey together. Jimmy is also survived by his children: Chris Clark (Cayce) of Chapel Hill, Thomas Clark (Erin) of Carthage, and Missy Clark (Jeffrey) of Thousand Oaks, California, along with Buddy Ragan (Loan) of Raleigh, Bucky Ragan (Tracy) of Pittsboro, and Tracey Husketh Sanford. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Charlotte and Channing Clark, Nathan and Lindsey Clark, Alexis and Garrett Clark, Kimberly Ragan, Nivia Alston, D'moni and Khloe Partridge. He will be missed not only by his family but also by a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Carnie Wade Clark and Buecanon Horne Clark, his brother Carnie Joe Clark, and his sister Bobbie Lou Smith. Their memories bring warmth to those left behind and remind us of the enduring bonds of family.

A memorial gathering to honor Jimmy’s life will be held on July 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill, located at 11680 US Highway 501 N, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the nurses and doctors of the cardiac units at Duke Regional and Duke University Hospital for their compassionate care during Jimmy’s illness. As they gather to remember him, they invite those whose lives he touched to join in celebrating a life well-lived.
