Glenn Peter Hoppin

Glenn Peter Hoppin, age 63, of Mebane, NC, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 12, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on September 7, 1962 in Appleton, Wisconsin, Glenn was the beloved child of Peter Hoppin and Sandy McGilligan. He grew up in Wisconsin and Michigan, later joining the Navy where he diligently served his country for 6 years.

While serving, Glenn met and later married April Hoppin on December 31, 1984 and together they built a life filled with love, raising two wonderful daughters, Stephanie Duncan and Betsy Manring. Glenn dedicated his work life to the Department of Health and Human Services of North Carolina for 16 years where he was well loved and appreciated.

Outside of work, Glenn was a man of many talents and passions. He was a rocking drummer, talented woodworker, a hilarious PawPaw to his many grandchildren, grill master, Jesus driven, and deeply devoted husband to his bride.

Glenn was preceded in death by his father Peter Hoppin. He is survived by his mother Sandy and Pat McGilligan, his wife April, his children Stephanie, Betsy and Michael, 5 grandchildren, his brothers Dan and Paul, and adored family members, including Gregg, Cindy, Dana and Benny.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20th, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home, located at 304 W Center St, Mebane, NC 27302, with a dear family friend Venus Schrader presiding.

A special thanks to the entire care team at the UNC Cancer Hospital who were integral in taking such good care of him over the past 2 years. Your love and care for Glenn will forever be remembered and deeply appreciated.
