George Cates

Butch passed away surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his Wife Louisa H. Cates, Parents Marion and Virginia Cates, Siblings: Raymond, Charlotte, and Janet Cates, and his Brother-in-law Bryant Cole. Butch is survived by his Son Charles Cates, Daughter Carmen (Chris) Clayton, three Grandsons: Daniel Chapman, Corey and Cameron Cates, three Granddaughters: Cheyenne, Destiny, and Bevin. Three Great-Grandchildren: Devon Chapman, Kayla and Kayden Hicks. Brothers: Robert Cates, William (Virginia) Cates. Sisters: Gwen Cole (Steve), Jackie (Richard) King, Rhonda Settlemyre,, special Sister Delia Holman. And his many Nieces and Nephews. In lieu of a funeral service the family will have a potluck style celebration of life Saturday November 2nd at 2:00 at Union Grove United Methodist Church (6407 Union Grove Church Road, Hillsborough, NC. 27278). Feel free to bring a dish and a story to help celebrate his life. Walker’s Funeral Home in Hillsborough is assisting the family.
