Frank Miller (90) entered Heaven's Gates on Wednesday, April 15th 2026. Frank was one of 9 children born to George and Grace Reitzel Miller (both deceased); two brothers George "Rawhide" Miller Jr (deceased) and Thomas Earl Miller (deceased), and six sisters - Ruth Richardson, Gladys Parker (deceased), Jean Crawford, Faye Oakley, Joyce Cabe (deceased), and Elaine Johnson.
Frank graduated from Hillsboro High in 1953 and went on to High Point University where he was a valued and star baseball pitcher. Frank also served the Country in the National Guard.After college Frank met and married Ruby Riley on April 28th 1961. They were married for 58 years before Ruby passed from this life to Heaven on June 27th 2019. During their life together Frank was employed at the ASCS Office, Orange County Tax Office, served on the Orange County Board of Education; served as President of Orange County Farm Bureau; was a Charter Member of the Orange County Rescue Squad, on the Board of Directors of the United Fund of Orange County; Vice President of the Orange County Dairy Herd Improvement Cooperative; Chairman of the Extension Advisory Board; Member of the Schley Grange; member of the North Central Area Development Association; Sunday School Teacher at West Hill Baptist Church and Little River Presbyterian Church; Board of Directors & Charter Member of the Hillsborough Jaycees; Frank was a Dairy Farmer for Maola Milk Company at his home at Highland Farm for 40 years and won multiple awards. One award in particular was The Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1969. Frank & Ruby were fortunate and blessed to have had one son Ryan (wife Debbie) who helped them on the farm and who took care of Frank after Ruby passed. Frank and Ruby were also blessed with a treasured grandson Cole (wife Madison) who also helped look after Frank in his last years. Cole was the apple of Pop's eye whom he loved very much. Frank loved to hunt and fish and passed down his love of hunting and fishing to Ryan and Cole. He also distilled the values of hard work to both of them. They shared many wonderful memories fishing, turkey or deer hunting, milking & tending to the cows or cutting and bailing hay in the fields.
Frank had many wonderful friends and extended family, nieces and nephews that he cherished. He and Ruby attended dances at the Schley Grange Hall and Cedar Grove Ruritan Club. They enjoyed trips to the Mountains, the Beach, and Kerr Lake. Frank loved all sports especially watching them on TV and watching NASCAR races.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Service at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 5218 Efland Cedar Grove Road, Cedar Grove NC at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 20th; visitation with family until 3:00 PM. Processional & Committal at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery at 3:30 pm at 2646 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough NC with Pastors Monica Beacham and Jonathan Newton.
A special thank you to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Nurses for their care of Frank in his last days.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Frank's Memory to Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Cedar Grove NC or Emmanuel Baptist Church, Cameron NC.
