Dallas Irvin Jacobs, a beloved member of the Chapel Hill community, passed away on October 3, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on May 28, 1961, in Chapel Hill, NC, he spent his life not only in this cherished town but also contributing to its legacy through his dedicated work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the Manager of Exercise and Sports Science Equipment.
Dallas was a proud graduate of Chapel Hill High School. Throughout his life, he developed diverse interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. He was an avid basketball enthusiast, enjoyed fishing, and took great pleasure in working on cars, activities that allowed him to bond with family and friends alike.
His loving memory will be carried forward by his children, Dallas Jacobs, Jr., Tatanishea Brantley, Malik Jacobs, and Rene Wells. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Aaliyah Mitchell and Quentin Brantley, Jr., who brought immense joy to his life. Dallas also leaves behind a close-knit family of siblings, including Lucille Richardson, Teddy Jacobs, Louis Jacobs, Erma Sanford, Johnny Jacob, Cecil Jacob, Cynthefer Alston, and Little Johnny Jacobs, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who admired and loved him deeply.
He was predeceased by his was preceded in death by his parents Hiawatha and Louis Jacobs; brother, Ricky Jacobs, whose memory will always remain a part of Dallas's legacy.
A Memorial Gathering to honor Dallas’s life will take place at Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill on October 17, 2025. Reverend Norman Umstead Jr. will be officiating the Gathering. The gathering will start at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:30 PM. This event will provide family and friends a cherished opportunity to come together to celebrate his life and the many memories shared with him.
Dallas Irvin Jacobs will be remembered for his warm heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and his contributions to the community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
