Hillsborough

Christy Smith, 73, of Hillsborough, finished her journey and went to walk with Jesus surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in New York, Christy later made Hillsborough her home, where she built a life filled with love, devotion, and dedication to her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and strength touched the lives of many.

Christy is survived by her loving husband, Bobbie Smith; her children, Gina Williams, Tammy Turner, Bobby Smith Jr., Tracey Duke, and Charlene Smith; her siblings, Linda Zimmerman, Nancy Buchanan, Richard Hammond, and Jimmy Hammond; and her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Sandra Gooch and brothers Peter, David, and Davie Hammond.

Family was at the heart of everything Christy did. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones and took great pride in watching her family grow through the years. Her caring nature, generous spirit, and unwavering love will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Markham Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Christy and to celebrate the life and love she shared with so many.

Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Christy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measures.”

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
