Christian Blaze Mercado

Christian Blaze Mercado, born on December 26, 2000, departed this life on August 9, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina. A beloved son and cherished friend, Christian brought joy to those who were fortunate enough to cross his path, leaving a lasting impression in the hearts of many.

A proud graduate of Carrboro High School, Class of 2019, Christian's journey in life was marked by his dedication to his craft as a short-end cook. His passion for cooking was matched only by his love for baseball, a sport he enjoyed both as a player and an enthusiastic fan.

Christian lived his life grounded in his Catholic faith, which guided him through challenges and celebrated his victories. His warm spirit and caring nature enveloped his friends and family, creating a community anchored in support and love.

He is survived by his father, Pedro Mercado; his brother, Angel Velez; and an extended family that includes his aunt, Rosa Mercado; uncles Joseph Mercado, Jesus Mercado, and Ramon Velez; and cousin Jennifer Velez. In addition, he is remembered fondly by his nephews and nieces, Grabriel Craig, Leon Craig, Yamaya Cunningham, Luna Mercado, and Arya Mercado.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all of Christian's friends and family who walked alongside him throughout his life.
